Mobil defence system
Cordon, mobile fence
The draft duty of the CP has to investigate vehicles not in the traffic line but the parking line or besides the road.The investigation yard is a fenced, closed zone preventing vehicles and pedestrians not able to break out or escape from there. There are vehicles ordered to drive into the CP camp must follow the direction leading to the investigation yard by force.
The most important operational rule is to impede the investigated vehicle getting back onto the main road
The cordon and fence are applicable for:
- Directing personnel movement and stop mass and;
- Protecting rendezvous, conferences, meetings, sport events with a well organized traffic control in the civil life.

|
Types of cordon are:
The height of the fence is settable. The surface for the installation would be natural terrain. There is a possibility to put the element into a concrete surface. There is a room on the top of the fence to harden the protection with barbed-wire or other facilities.
Check Point CP
The Hungarian soldiers follow widener scale of peacekeeping operational techniques on the different mission areas.
They are followings:
- To check, inspect and register all traffic (personnel and vehicle);
- To observe (used by permanent or temporal check point CP or observation post OP);
- To guard and protect (protecting own forces and supporting the local authorities);
- To patrol (reconnaissance-search, mine and bomb detection, reinforcement, and other else special patrols);
- To escort (vehicle convoy, VIP escort);
- To handle infiltrators (event guarding and protecting, mass asylum seekers and refugees protection, mass handling).

Both the general and the special training require such kind of buildings and constructions which can model and simulate the real mission environment like CPs, OPs and guarding-protecting posts and so on.
For the first time these buildings and constructions were produced for the Hungarian Peacekeeping Forces Training Centre PFTC by the military equipment manufacturer (Esztergom) in 1994 to establish the training facility.
The previously mentioned PFTC has tried to measure how much work and material are necessary to build up a real OP and CP during the Cooperative Light exercise scheduled in the Partnership for Peace program having done in Hungary in 1995.
Results indicated that 5-6 m3 woods for tower and obstacles items, 30-40 pcs antitank concrete blocks, same number for craw foot or spiders made from rails, 20-30 pcs 200 liter standard barrels, more thousands of sandbags setting to the fire and defense positions, and a lot of different kind of supplementary heavy materials have been used.
The overall procedures of the building and constructing work has executed by 40 personnel for 5 days. They were supported by a heavy excavator, a multifunctional truck and a deployable electric-carpenter workshop. The work was managed by the writer of this presentation.
The NATO visitors met with a complete success in seeing the CPs and OPs. Later on some of similar barracks' training ranges were equipped such kind of instruments also utilized a large scale of human as well as material resources. It has become a top story in the armed forces which is not a problem purely. But the real problem was that the local ideas and inventions were not coordinated, so the available resources fragmented many parts and finally we could not hit the target to create a so called centralized base for these assets.
For the sake of the special military application the required buildings and constructions should be built up from easily assemble, mobile, long lifecycle, hard elements within hours.
Guard-tower
The tower supports the continuous observation of the CP and its environment looking down the topside of high platform vehicles as well as setting on reflectors, sound blasters and any other communication equipment.Naturally the tower is an additional fire position deployed a long-range machine gun with holders.The tower is usually manned with two soldiers one for gun another for device operator of reconnaissance. |

Defence, and fire positions
The battle vehicles' present is indispensable at the Check Point to demonstrate the force, the defence, the fire and the mobility capability. The well-armoured battle vehicles are applicable for close roads monitoring the environment with visual equipment. Due to their physical feature they are easy target in the mission area. |
|
The biggest threat for an armoured vehicle is the hand anti-armoured missiles.Usually no bigger arm used by terrorist than the previously mentioned light anti-armoured missiles, which maybe easily hide (just see today the Iraqi situation). Defence, and fire position may build in a conventional way under the ground level requiring huge human and technical efforts. There is so difficult terrain situation like muddy, hard stones or sand where the strong point building is almost impossible. On the top of them taking into account the time for readiness as unavoidable factor in the mission area.All in all our light construction defence and fire positions were invented onto the base of those practical experiences.The elements are easily linkable, and altering the length of the placeholder the fragment protection is increasable.The elements of the defence and fire positions include 4-5 pcs standard subtype elements, which may carry easily by two persons. The building progress needs only a short training no longer than 5-6 hrs.The whole defence and fire position could place into one standard container that may apply for command post, duty-off facility or storage.
Traffic sign holder
We have to sign to all vehicles that an "obstacle is on the road" informatively. The soldiers can count optimal ranges needed to put traffic signs concerning speed reduction order step by step down to 5 km/hrs. Good idea to equip traffic signs and additional information tables with mobile holder due to quick dismantling and reinstallation purposes. |
|
|
It is also a requirement drawing attention to the expectable narrower of road, ordered direction and so on. Mobile, locally installable, easily portable braces and rods need for erecting conventional traffic signs. The most optimal solution is a collapsible triangular brace, transportable in standard unit box |
Traffic obstacle
We can use traffic-calming instruments placing obstacle crossing the road to constrain the driver to low the speed as signed (for example in size of 4-5 cm device height reflecting to the 70 km/hrs speed later 9-10 cm height for the 10 km/hrs).
Every speed reducer element has 1 m length, telescopic feature, and self-locked. They could be fasten on the two sides of the road with pin or screwing down into the hard road surface.
All elements have pull-able holders to make easy the installation progress.

Spider
The slalom part should contain those spiders or craw foots which can stack any vehicle over more tons. The hardest ones are made from rail but in our special case the welding technique useless. We have to put together parts of spiders or craw foots with releasable screw binding to make easier the transportation
The spider is a really heavy instrument due to its functionality that's way we produced it from three separated parts, which are lights, and easy to carry with the holders installed both sides of each element. For the installation the only.
